CAS September 11 - Vickie Vaughn

Come on out for some good ol’ Cause A Scene fun this Wednesday at what is becoming one of our favorite venues in town, The Basement. The evenings bill is full of acts both local and from afar who dwell deep in the bluegrass and Americana genres. The Vickie Vaughn Band are a quintet based out of Music City, complete with a banjo, fiddle and mandolin, who are sure to get the crowd stomping on this September evening. This group is comprised of five incredibly talented and dedicated musicians who have worked to form a sound that is self-described as “a unique brand of Bluegrass that blends tradition with youthful funk and energy.”

Filling out the set and keeping the air rich with the sounds of country and folk music, are two more Nashville-based acts; Johnny Appleseed and Cale Tyson. Johnny Appleseed are a seven piece who’s unique sound is rooted in country but characterized with a contemporary flair. We were fortunate enough have Johnny Appleseed play our Christmas show last year and we are stoked to have them back for a second run. Originally from Fort Worth, TX, Cale Tyson brings the grit and somberness found in old school country to the table. It would only make sense that this singer-songwriter would find his way to Nashville, where he cut his latest EP, High On Lonesome. Released less than two months ago, High On Lonesome was featured on American Songwriter. You can read the full article here.

Opening up the evening is the St. Louis, MO-based outfit, Jack Grelle and the Johnson Family Band. With their most recent full-length album, Jack Grelle and the Johnson Family out in November of last year, this group of Missourians will certainly be the perfect cap on a fantastic lineup of talent.

So get yourself down to The Basement on 8th Avenue South to see some of the best music this city has to offer. Doors open at 8:00 PM and the show starts at 9:00 PM. Tickets are $5 at the door.
